Tiers Shmears
I'm in NYC, so the tasty bagels must have something to do with the "shmear" reference above. At book readings and law school engagements, certain topics keep coming up. The most common: Tiers. The fundamental question - How does the tier attributed to my graduate school by US News and World Report affect my chances of employment? Look, I'm not going to pretend that all schools are created equal and that it isn't a struggle for the 174 other ABA-appoved law schools not listed in the top ten. To me, what it comes down to is "access." Harvard and Yale (and no disrespect intended) have better access to the decisionmakers - the people who make the hires. Your job is to be shameless. Do whatever it takes to get in front of the hiring partners. Deep down you know that they'll love you once they get to know you. Plus, you owe it to yourself to be rejected on your merits and not because of the font you used on the cover letter. What do you think?
Oh, and by the way. What the hell? I had to have my family be the ones to tell me that I was using a microscopic font on this blog and that as a result you needed a microfiche machine to read it? You should have told me. That's like talking to you all night with spinach in my teeth. I think it's all fixed now. How's the size of the font? Readable?
THAT IS A VERY LARGE FONT NOW. THANK YOU!
:)
